So this year, Albertson's will be celebrating its 70th anniversary! Now how do you think we should all celebrate this wonderful occasion?
Telling the employees Albertson's won't exist by the end of this year? yup that would be my pick too! Associated Foods has bought all but four Albertson's in Utah. The two orem stores and two up in Salt Lake are the lucky four that are on sale for anyone who wants them. Its for sale until this fall (supposedly) and can be bought by anyone who wants the buildings.... best buy, toys r us, walmart, petsmart, toilet plumbing supply store..... anyone. What happens if no one buys it? who knows but I'm sure there isn't going to be a job for you either way. Its kinda sad, there are lots of employees who have been working there a long long long time. Most employess have been working there atleast 5 years, all the way up to 25 and longer if they came from other stores when our building was built. Supposedly they are trying to work out a deal where if someone buys the building that they get the employees too, but when does that ever happen.
I guess that solves my dilema of whether or not to keep working there... haha...

That is sad. I guess all the ones in sacramento (that whole big area were bought out also.) They still have some by where Isabelle lives. When I first started as a manager there, I got a really big first bonus check.. then after that.. It all went down hill. stupid greed.
lol yup thats basically it, all down hill. the first few months i worked there, it was all great, had 40 hours all the time and diann was nice. then week after week less and less hours and such. its sad because they really don't care about their employees so i don't see anything like keeping your benefits and getting severance and stuff like that happening.
Major Bummer Girl. That stinks!!!
I hope that you can pick up some other job with your skills..
Sorry. :>(

i'm not to worried, i was planning on quitting anyways, i already have another job i'm working right now that will be just fine :D
I wonder why they couldn't make it. It is sad when companies go down and employees are displaced after putting so much time in with a company.
i think its been a long time coming, they haven't done so well in other states and for the better part of my two years there, its been quite bad, sales, labor everything. and i just think with all the other compitition around here and stuff. also albertson's has its own brand instead of western family. companies like associated foods can do lower prices cuz they make a lot more money the albertson's brands. and with people and their coupons now a days... ;D jk but just with the economy everyone buys stuff if its cheap, they don't buy regular priced stuff. our clearance and discount stuff flew off the shelves, but people would wait until it got there, and not buy it a regular price. bigger companies can handle that, cuz their regular stuff is already cheap, but albertson's is alot smaller, and lots of their stuff is expensive when its not on sale. i don't know i think alot of things contribute to it.
yea i feel bad for a lot of people that work there because they cancelled all transfers, so no one can find a place at one of the stores that got bought, even if they need a position filled. they also say if you quit, you wont get unemployment when it closes down, and they're kinda threatening to fire you too, and you won't get unemployment then either. i bet in its last month lots of people will get fired for really stupid stuff.
so... I am pretty sure you were mocking coupons?! and the people who use them??! Bad Heather.
no not mocking! just saying people are more cost concious now a days, and albertson's wasn't keeping up with the times wouldn't lower their prices even though they could have
