You all should be SO jealous!

cuz i got my very own personal WALL E!!!

He's one of those toys that hook up to your ipod and plays music for you. He has some pretty sweet dance moves and everything! I LOVE Wall E! Steve surprised me with this when i came home the other day, it was oh so sweet of him :D

I also have been doing so cool stuff at school. A sweet cheese platter and a HUGE veggie platter, that tray took three people to carry! I also had to make 100 hors' devoures, i thought they turned out alright, my chef kinda got them all skee wompis when he was putting them on my platter for me, but thats ok... they only took me two freakin days to do! and yes, they were yummy and yes those are PINK deviled eggs! lol I also took pictures of the cakes i did on my first decorating shift over at albertson's! i did 18 whole cakes in just 4 hours, i thought that was pretty productive :D

Catching Up

So I've started my new class in school, and have been doing some fun things, like cheese platters,fruit platters and pumpkin carving! Me and Celeste also made up the cool thing called Bacon Roses! never before done, but oh so delicious!

I didn't really like our cheese platter, but that wasn't my plan haha

I also have done a few cakes, a couple of cute ladybug cakes at good ol' Albertson's. I also did a really awesome Halloween Cake for Luanne's birthday party. I thought it turned out great, hope she loved it!

Happy Birthday Hannah!

So yesterday I did Hannah's really cool birthday cake! She was so excited about it and announcing to all her friends that "my sister with all her amazing talent made this cake for me" it was cute :D

I was really proud of the fondant job on this one, i almost got it completely perfect! yea yea almost, i didn't take the time to roll it out in a actual circle, so there was a kinda bad part in the back, nothing a star couldn't cover up though :D I had to leave back to school after i dropped it off, so i couldn't stay long, but a house full of 14 yr olds.... i'll pass :D

Compitition Day!

This whole week at school we have been competing each other! Everyone has spent the past week planning a dish they they think will win.

I knew I was going to make my okonomiaki. this is a dish that me and steve used to make ALL the time, and I really wanted to do it as one of my tests last semester, but my chef told me not to. So now I get my chance! My new chef ( Chef Snider) thought the idea was very interesting and was excited to see how I made it turn out. So I planned my dish, Beef tenderloin, on a pancake made with cabbage, red and green onions. Okonomi Sauce with the beef and a cream sauce to even the flavors out. I made crispy onion straws with a slightly spicy flavor to add texture and flair! I had a side of baby bok choy with candied bacon and makademia nuts to add a little sweetness ( i wish i kept those seperate though to keep the crispiness, oh well) So here it is!

It turned out almost exactly how i planned it which i was quite happy about. It actually sold out. I made two whole beef tenderloins (which are quite large) and sold out! I don't know how the votes turned out yet, but I don't think the other girl even sold 5 dishes and I sold way more! It turned out great, and I hope i won! And thats basically it :D

There's Gotta be a Fiddle in the Band!

We had a great time partying it up with dad for his birthday. Me, steve, tyler, becca and hannah all went over and cake and ice cream (and yummy fajitas made by dad) for his birthday, and this was his awesome cake!


This is a cute little frog, chillin on his lilypad, playing tunes on his violin. He's basically awesome!

This was the infamous frosting slice! yum yum! haha all the other slices had alot more cake than this :D

Life is Great!

So I've had quite a busy week with cakes. I did two sheet cakes for my mom's open house, i'll have to get pictures of those soon, my camera didn't save them cuz it was dying. I also did two monkey cakes for a guy I work with, and then of course, Becca's Sweet 16 cake. All of which I did get paid for, yay! so here are some pics...

I have dad's cake in the process so i'll be sure to put pics up of his cake! Other than that life has been pretty busy as usual. School and work and what not. We are also currently looking for a place to live because we live with a big fat jerk. It's going to be really tight, but i guess we have to figure out how to make it work. Anyways, i'm off to get ready for work. Peace out!

ps. I got a totally awesome new purse and wallet from my dearest sister, and I LOVE them! peace signs were an excellent choice! I also am loving the contact solution, i just ran out! perfect timing! :D

First Paid Project!

So I just finished my first paid cake order. It was for a girl I knew in Highschool, it was her husband's birthday. He is into boating and wakeboarding and stuff like that so this is what I thought would be great for him!
The first shot it part way through, I carved the cake then covered it with the fondant and kinda molded it for the inside of the boat. The second is a shot of the inside, it was kinda plain and simple because I didn't want to try too much and ruin it... haha and then the Third shot is the final product! There are a few things I would do different next time, but seeing as its the first time i've done anything like this and the first time doing a freakin boat! lol I think I did a pretty good job. They loved it, so i guess it all works out! :D

I think it was a great learning experience and a nice cake to add to my portfolio. They also asked me if I would do a wedding cake for someone they know! (for sept 18) I might do it, but a wedding cake is a bit different then just a birthday cake haha! Anyways... Thats all for now :D

oh and ps School starts tomorrow!!! yay!

What i've been up to

So i know most of you have seen it... but here is a pic of my b-day cake. And then a pic of the wedding cake I made for my mom, busy week, but its been fun, I've got a turntable now, so i makes decorating at how alot easier! love it! I also got this really sweet cake carrier from my dad, which is super nice, very sturdy and holds up to a 10" cake

The cake is on the bottom of the carrier thing i got, the dome is really high on it to, so my cake was three layers and it still fit! Good thing too cuz i had to bring it home from mapleton!

My mom wanted her cake really simple. Well i don't think she REALLY wanted a cake, but knew i would be offended if she didn't ask me to make it lol. I thought it turned out really pretty! just a simple black ribbon and the flowers on top are real flowers. It looked good with the colors of the flowers and things on the table. I had to get one last pic of the flowers on top after everyone devored it, i thought my flower arranging skills turned out better then expected! (seeing as how I did it in less then 10 min before the wedding started! thats me for ya!) I also just stuck them in the cake.... i'm not sure if thats 100% sanitary or even if its a bad thing, but hey it was for family so i doesn't matter too much :D

Then here is the hubby taking pics of himself instead of the wedding... lol he likes dressing up :D

Start of Something Good?

So i recently had three request from people for cakes made by me! (actually 4 if you count my mom's wedding cake) not through albertson's, but me just me all me! thats kinda way exciting!! people wanting to pay me money for a cake and then they get all excited and maybe tell people they know? thats so cool. a really neat feeling :D it's a bit nerve racking though, kinda alot of responsibility.... i think i need to start making up prices and stuff cuz i have no idea what to charge... a price kinda just pops up and says, hey i'd be willing to pay that so maybe that would be good... lol i need to go to bed, i'm getting all anxious and stuff. but it is a really cool feeling :D

Happy Birthday Albertson's!

So this year, Albertson's will be celebrating its 70th anniversary! Now how do you think we should all celebrate this wonderful occasion?

Telling the employees Albertson's won't exist by the end of this year? yup that would be my pick too! Associated Foods has bought all but four Albertson's in Utah. The two orem stores and two up in Salt Lake are the lucky four that are on sale for anyone who wants them. Its for sale until this fall (supposedly) and can be bought by anyone who wants the buildings.... best buy, toys r us, walmart, petsmart, toilet plumbing supply store..... anyone. What happens if no one buys it? who knows but I'm sure there isn't going to be a job for you either way. Its kinda sad, there are lots of employees who have been working there a long long long time. Most employess have been working there atleast 5 years, all the way up to 25 and longer if they came from other stores when our building was built. Supposedly they are trying to work out a deal where if someone buys the building that they get the employees too, but when does that ever happen.

I guess that solves my dilema of whether or not to keep working there... haha...

Discovery Ranch (DR)

Here are a few pics to show you what my new job is like. I'm the weekend cook for the kids there, I make lunch (which is actually brunch, cuz its a hot breakfast) and dinner.


This first pic is of the kitchen, it looks really cluttered, most of the time it is, but it's good for the job. The second is the cafeteria area where they eat. They actually call it the Calf A cuz they're on a ranch and all. The third pic is the place where I put out the food to keep it hot and for them to serve themselves, and the little menu board above it.

This darn drink machine causes so many freakin problems! They are only allowed juice for lunch, not dinner, but they always ask for it to be turned on so they can get cold water from it, but they always sneak it anyways! It drives me nuts because the staff are the ones asking, and they know the rule more than I do.

Anyways... thats about it. Not much but its a job :D

Ouchie! - updated

So today while I was hard at work at good ol' Albertson's I got my finger on the oven! It's pretty painful, but I guess when you work with an oven that's bigger then you, then its bound to happen sometime... :D
